To put it plainly, periods suck. For us women, Mother Nature hasn’t always been the most forgiving. Yes, there are times when we’re desperately waiting to see if our menstrual cycle will begin. Like, for instance, if we’re waiting to see whether or not this will be the first month of nine with the possibility of baby development. And if not, we get to say adios baby fears – maybe I’ll see you later

Planning around Periods isn’t exactly on our fun-things-to-do-list. It’s great we now have apps that let us know ahead of time when our period will start, but it would be so much better if we could schedule our periods instead of it scheduling us.

Good thing its the 21st century and we have ways to manage our period and to decide when it will show up. And we don’t even need to rely on birth control.

Period Delay Pills – Norethisterone

The name doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue but it does get its job done. Norethisterone is the only pill on the market that can delay your period. You can prevent Mother Nature’s “gift” from popping up for up to 17 days! Convenient or what?

How does Norethisterone work?

The hormone progesterone (another name that isn’t rolling off tongues) is very important when it comes to our period cycles.

Norethisterone acts similar to this natural hormone of ours in order to not only delay our period but to treat a multitude of other period-related problems such as:

  • Prevents normal or unexpected bleeding from our uterus
  • Treats heavy or painful periods
  • Treats headaches, migraines, breast pain, mood swings and water retention that happens before or as our periods start
  • Even treats against certain types of breast cancer

Sounds like quite the miracle pill doesn’t it? Taking a few pills a day for up to 2 weeks can prevent our periods from showing up and ruining an important day or the perfect romantic mood for some…entertaining fun.

Now for the warnings

But like any other handy medication, Norethisterone doesn’t come without its warnings:

  • Nausea and skin problems
  • Worsened symptoms can develop if you have asthma, epilepsy, migraines or problems with your kidney and liver.

And like most medications, if you suffer from heart, liver and other diseases or are pregnant, this isn’t the pill for you (but if you are pregnant you’re probably period safe, for the most part).

Is Norethisterone right for you?
